Shopping for new skincare can often be a challenge, especially in our post-COVID beauty world, where much of it takes place online without testers that let you touch, feel, and experience the products for yourself. With this in mind, this post highlights some of the excellent skincare options available at Alcone Company, sprinkled with a touch of my personal opinion.
CETAPHIL
There’s a reason this product has been a best-seller for decades. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a mild, fragrance-free formula that cleans the skin without irritating or stripping away moisture. This iconic product is popular with those who like things that are simple but effective. It’s my go-to when I need a break from more complicated routines.
AVÈNE
If you’re a sensitive skin type that’s also prone to breakouts, consider the Avène Cleanance collection. It’s perfect for adults with oily skin who want to reduce blemishes but don’t want to use a product that could cause dryness (like those made for teenagers). As a person who falls into this category, I’m a devoted user of this product series. The Cleanance Cleansing Gel cleans my skin without making it feel uncomfortably stripped. The Cleanance EXPERT treatment lotion reduces blemishes and gently exfoliates without irritation or redness. While results may vary from person to person, I swear my skin looks clearer, smoother, and my pores much smaller.
BIODERMA
Another fantastic product for sensitive skin is Bioderma Sensibio H20, a gentle micellar water formula that removes makeup without the use of oils, so no rinsing is necessary. This beauty staple is one of the most asked-for-by-name products during Fashion Week by models who endure multiple makeup changes (and refuse to have anything else clean their over-sensitized skin). It’s also a makeup-artist favorite for cleaning up eyeshadow mishaps and perfecting eyeliner wings.
B3 BRUSH BEAUTY BALM
If you’re mulling the idea of adding a facial oil to your routine, B3 Squalane Oil is an excellent choice to start. Because it’s similar to our skin’s natural oils, it’s easily absorbed to make skin feel soft, supple, but not slick at all–even on naturally dewy (oily) skin like mine. It also works wonderfully under makeup or mixed with foundation or concealer to increase spreadability for seamless blending.
EMBRYOLISSE
If your skin is sensitive and dehydrated (mask fatigue, anyone?), Lait-Crème Concentré is a must-have. This milky cream formula nourishes dry skin and acts as a primer by creating a smooth canvas for makeup application. But you don’t need to wear makeup to love this product. Just ask my Dad (he’s hooked!). He says it’s soothing after a shave, but I’m pretty sure he also enjoys all the compliments he gets on his skin.
RMS BEAUTY
Attention Clean Beauty Fans: RMS Beauty Raw Coconut Cream is the multitasker of your dreams! It’s a cleanser, makeup remover, and moisturizer made of 100% pure, organic coconut oil that’s unrefined to maintain its antioxidant and nourishing benefits. It’s also an excellent choice for travel because you can pack fewer products, a little goes a long way, and you don’t have to worry about spillage like with a liquid or a lotion.
NURTURING FORCE
Nurturing Force Twinkle Not Wrinkle Eye Cream + Base not only has a super cute name, but it’s also another fabulous multitasker. As an eye cream, it helps minimize the appearance of fine lines. As a primer, it creates a smooth base for eyeshadow that helps it last longer too. You can also use it on the lips.
PRO TIP: Because it’s transparent once applied, I love using this product to hold loose sparkles on an otherwise naked lid. Just apply a touch of the cream and blend, then tap a tiny amount of product (such as Kryolan Glamour Sparks) over the top. It’s a chic look that catches the light beautifully on a festive night. You could even say it “twinkles.”

Do you have anything that works on oily skin. I really need something that will no make my sensitive skin. I brake out very easily.
Hi! Since you’re concerned with breakouts, the Avene Cleanance product labels state they are for “blemish-prone skin” and you can click on the links in the post to find our more info. However what works best varies from person to person so if it’s a serious issue, you should consult a dermatologist. Feel free to get in touch with customer service or stop by our retail store if you’re in NYC. Thanks!
